SpaceTek UK installs Starlink across Greater Manchester: Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Trafford, Bury, Bolton, Wigan, Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside. The installation needs to suit both the building and the people using it: a clear position for the dish, a tidy cable route and Wi-Fi where you work or relax.

Towns and areas we cover
Most Greater Manchester work falls within the ten boroughs. Several towns have their own planning guide written from installations in that area:
- Manchester and Salford – city terraces, converted mills, new-build estates and canal-side apartments.
- Stockport – Bramhall, Cheadle, Marple, Romiley (Romiley guide), and the Goyt valley, with neighbouring Disley covered too.
- Trafford – Altrincham (Altrincham guide), Hale, Bowdon, Sale and Urmston.
- Bury – Ramsbottom, Tottington, Radcliffe and Prestwich (Bury guide).
- Bolton – Horwich, Westhoughton, Harwood and Egerton (Bolton guide).
- Wigan – Standish, Billinge, Leigh and Atherton.
- Oldham – Saddleworth, Shaw and Royton (Oldham guide).
- Rochdale and Tameside – Littleborough, Milnrow, Ashton-under-Lyne, Stalybridge and Mossley.
If your town is not listed, it is almost certainly still covered: SpaceTek works across the whole of the North West. The North West England guide explains how installations are planned across the wider region.
What a Greater Manchester installation usually involves
The conurbation mixes dense terraced streets, inter-war semis, large new-build estates and exposed hillside villages, and each needs a different approach to the same two questions: where can the dish see the sky without obstruction, and how does the cable reach the router neatly?
- Terraces and semis. Neighbouring roofs and chimneys are the usual obstructions. The dish is often best placed high on a gable or on a short pole above the ridge line rather than on the most convenient wall.
- Rear extensions and loft conversions. A cable entry chosen for the dish alone can leave the router on the wrong side of the house. Tell us where the home office and television are before the route is agreed.
- Apartments and leasehold property. Check what your lease or management company allows before ordering hardware. Balcony and non-penetrative mounts may avoid drilled fixings, but still need a suitable location and any required building permissions.
- Pennine-edge and rural plots. Saddleworth, Ramsbottom, Littleborough and the moorland fringe see stronger wind loading and longer cable runs to outbuildings, so the mount and the cable route are chosen for exposure, not convenience.
Plan the dish and indoor network together
For a terrace or semi-detached house, start with neighbouring roofs, chimneys and the route into the living space. A higher mount is only helpful if it improves the required sky view and the structure can support it. Compare wall, pole and roof mounting options before deciding where the dish should go.
A rear office or loft room can be a long way from a convenient cable entry. Tell Bob which rooms need a dependable connection and whether you already have Ethernet, mesh Wi-Fi or a business router. The Romiley garden-office guide explains the choices for a separate workspace; the Altrincham business failover guide covers backup connectivity.
What affects an installation quote in Greater Manchester?
Roof access, the mounting surface, cable length and indoor networking are the main things to establish. A straightforward wall mount and a shared building with restricted access need different preparation. Our guide to what affects the cost of a Starlink installation separates the installation work from Starlink hardware and subscription charges.
Before booking
Can you install Starlink equipment I already own?
Yes. Send the kit model or a photo of its label, your postcode and photos of the proposed location taken safely from the ground. Existing mounts and cable routes need checking for compatibility before reuse.
Will a new dish fix poor Wi-Fi in my home office?
It may improve the internet connection, but Wi-Fi coverage is a separate issue. Describe where the connection currently fails so the quote can include a suitable indoor network if one is needed.
