This Starlink installation in Malpas shows how a wall-mounted pole can position a dish beside the roofline of a rural property. The project photograph and SpaceTek UK video document the finished installation, with the support fixed to the brick wall below the eaves.

The Malpas installation in detail
The rectangular dish sits on a metal pole held by two wall brackets. The brackets stand the pole away from the brickwork, while the dish is positioned beside the slate roof. A roof window and the gutter are visible nearby, so the relationship between the mounting point and the surrounding roof is an important part of this example.
This is a useful layout to consider when a dish placed at ground level would have a restricted view. It is not a standard specification for every Malpas home: the wall, roof shape, access and surrounding trees all need to be assessed before choosing a mounting position.
Why the sky view matters more than height alone
A tall pole does not automatically mean a clear connection. The dish needs a suitable view of the sky, including clearance from the roof and nearby obstacles. Starlink recommends checking a proposed location with the obstruction tool in its app. The photograph shows the mounting arrangement; an on-site assessment establishes whether that position works for the property.
For a rural home, it is worth comparing possible positions before committing to a long cable route. A location near the preferred room indoors may look convenient but still be unsuitable if a roof or tree blocks part of the required sky view.
Planning the cable route and indoor connection
The external mount is only one part of an installation. Decide where the cable will enter the building, where power is available and where the indoor network needs to reach. An agreed route helps avoid an awkward cable run around doors, windows and guttering.
If the main connection is needed in a home office, workshop or another part of the property, mention this when requesting a quote. The dish location and the indoor Wi-Fi arrangement should be planned together, particularly where thick walls or an extended floor plan could limit coverage.
What to send for a Malpas installation quote
Send your postcode, a photo of each possible mounting wall and a wider view of the roofline. Include nearby trees or buildings rather than photographing only the wall. Let us know which Starlink kit you have, whether it is already activated and where you need the connection inside.
For broader advice, read our Malpas Starlink installation guide. This project adds a specific wall-mount example to that overview.
Malpas installation questions
Does every rural property need a pole mount?
No. The mounting arrangement depends on the sky view, building and safe access. A wall bracket, pole or another suitable mount may be considered after assessment.
Can a quote be based on photographs?
Photographs and a postcode help establish the likely approach. Any uncertainties about wall condition, access or obstructions may still need an on-site check.
