Starlink Installation in Malpas: Rural Homes and Outbuilding Connections

At a Malpas property, the best position for a Starlink dish may be some distance from the room or outbuilding that needs internet. Planning both ends of the connection helps avoid choosing a good outdoor position that leaves the indoor network difficult to use.

Choose a position with room to see the sky

Trees, rooflines and nearby structures can obstruct the satellite view. Start with the Starlink app’s obstruction check and photographs of potential positions taken from ground level. The final assessment also needs to consider a sound fixing surface, safe access and maintenance.

Our Malpas rural wall-mount project documents one example using a wall-mounted pole beside a slate roof. The photo and video show the finished arrangement; the same approach is not automatically suitable for every building.

Connect the house and workspace as one plan

Tell us if you need the connection in a detached office, workshop or other outbuilding. A Wi-Fi router in the main house may not reach through external walls or across the site reliably. Depending on the layout, a cable, access point or dedicated network link may be appropriate.

Mark the buildings, available power and existing cable routes on a sketch. The distance, route and Starlink hardware affect the design. Do not assume that the dish cable can simply be lengthened to reach every building.

Avoid placing the router by convenience alone

The cable entry and router position should reflect where people use the connection. If a thick wall separates the router from a home office, a wired connection or another access point may be useful. This is a separate issue from the dish receiving a clear satellite signal.

Information that makes a quote more accurate

Your postcode and a short description of the property.
The hardware model and whether it has arrived.
Possible mounting positions, trees and access limitations.
The buildings and rooms that need coverage.
Whether an existing connection will be retained as a backup.

SpaceTek will use that information to discuss mounting, cabling and networking requirements. Hardware and subscription costs should be checked separately unless included in the quotation. Connection speeds vary with the service and conditions; an installation photograph is not evidence of a guaranteed speed.
