For a Skipton home or workspace considering Starlink, the first step is to assess the individual property. A nearby installation does not prove that your roof, trees or cable route will be suitable. SpaceTek can help plan the external equipment and the indoor connection together.
Look beyond a small patch of open sky
Satellite visibility changes as the satellites move. The obstruction check in the Starlink app is more useful than choosing a spot that simply looks open from one direction. Trees and parts of the building need to be considered across the required view.
Take photographs safely from ground level and describe where the proposed position sits relative to surrounding trees and roofs. A survey can then consider whether a wall, roof or separate pole location is practical, together with access and fixing requirements.
Where should the connection enter?
Decide where power and the indoor equipment can be located. If the property has thick walls or an extended layout, the most convenient cable entry may place the router too far from the rooms that matter. Draw a simple plan showing the working areas and any existing network cables.
Detached accommodation or a workshop needs an additional plan for distributing the network. Cable distance and the equipment model affect the options, so avoid buying a long extension or a second router before the route has been assessed.
Prepare useful information for a quote
- The installation postcode and the type of building.
- Whether the Starlink kit has been ordered, and which model it is.
- Photographs of possible mounting areas and the intended cable entry.
- Any access restrictions or approval needed from the property owner.
- The rooms and devices that need dependable coverage.
What happens after mounting?
Commissioning should include checking the connection and the intended working areas. A home-office desk or guest room may need a different Wi-Fi arrangement from the room containing the router. Any extra access points or wired connections should form part of the agreed scope.
For subscription availability, current packages and equipment compatibility, check directly with Starlink. Installation can address positioning and networking, but it cannot guarantee the service speed at all times.
