When the existing connection is the problem
Check whether the difficulty is present next to the router as well as in distant rooms. If devices work well near the router but poorly upstairs, improving Wi-Fi may be the first step. Replacing the internet supply alone will not remove thick walls or extend wireless coverage.
If the incoming connection is consistently inadequate, compare the services actually available at your address. Ask providers about installation times and contracts, and check current Starlink availability and plans directly. Satellite performance varies with the site and network conditions, so avoid choosing solely on a headline speed.
When continuity is the priority
A second internet connection can give a business another route online, but automatic switching needs compatible routing equipment and configuration. The ordinary Starlink setup does not turn an existing router into a managed backup system. Tell the installer about your firewall, existing Wi-Fi equipment and any IT support company involved.
Power is another shared dependency: two internet services can both stop during a power cut if their equipment has no suitable backup supply. Decide which devices must keep running and have the power requirements assessed alongside the network.
Test a realistic interruption
For an agreed failover installation, arrange a controlled test with whoever manages the network. Check switching in both directions and the applications that matter, such as video calls or remote access. Some sessions may reconnect when the public connection changes; continuity should be demonstrated rather than assumed.
